Reflections on a Sunday
I have almost an hour’s drive to get to church every Sunday. It allows a lot of time for prayer, contemplation, praise and worship, and allowing the Holy Spirit to quicken my spirit on the drive back and forth. Today, as I turned toward I-10 going home, I casually glanced over at a nearby church where folks were exiting the building from their service. I was considering the sermon from my pastor, and as I watched those leaving their service, I couldn’t help but wonder what their sermon topic was and the ways each of us were impacted by what we experienced. For the Love of Herons
I love – absolutely love – bird photography. I enjoy capturing all kinds of species, but I especially love the big birds. Recently a couple herons have taken up residence in the pond located in my apartment complex. It was blackish in color, but after I quickly withdrew to keep distance between us, I saw it channeling its color and it lightened up. Whew, narrow call! A furtive look around convinced me no…

Bird Life
Birds interest me. Not sure why, but they just do. Maybe it’s because they can just lift themselves up with a quick spread of their wings. Maybe it’s because they sing and chirp regardless. Maybe it’s because capturing them on camera is an art I’m still perfecting. Either way the “maybe” falls, I truly enjoy observing all kinds of bird life, watching their behaviors and just wondering why they do what they do. This past week while I was on vacation I had the opportunity to get a few decent shots of bird life at Fairhope Pier. That one sitting on the pylon was content to pose while I set my camera’s setting to get the best exposure. A short time later, it was diving…
